HMA Techniplan design and supply a range of Scissor Lift Elevating Work Platforms (EWP) for attachment to Hi-Rail vehicles. The Elevating Work Platforms can either be permanently attached, bolted or attached with twist locks to the tray body of the Hi-Rail vehicle.

Hi-Rail Elevating Work Platforms are supplied complete with electrical control systems with single or multiple control stations.  A full range of controls are available from the EWP basket including:

Basket Raise and Lower, Extension Platform (In and Out), Platform Slew, Live Side Isolation, Emergency Lower, Emergency Stop, Hi-Rail Truck Travel (Forward and Reverse), Braking, Engine Control (Stopping and Starting)

Hi-Rail Scissor Lift Elevating Work Platform optional features also include:

240V AC Electrical GPO’s Hydraulic Intensifier Outlets for crimping tools and pneumatic outlets

Large area Elevating Work Platforms with equipment storage provide sufficient space for personnel to carry the necessary tools and have enough room for overhead maintenance and construction work. Elevating Work Platforms are supplied with extending sections to maximize the work area with optional Platform Slew, Platform Longitudinal Extension and Lateral Extension to both sides of the track.

Hydraulic and electrical systems are integrated with the Hi-Rail truck’s PTO, transmission and Engine Management System (EMS).  This results in the very accurate and smooth control of the Hi-Rail vehicle when travelling from the cabin and accessing the overhead from the Elevating Work Platform basket.

Operators undergoing site training on a multi-gauge, broad, standard and narrow hydrostatic Hi-Rail 16T gross vehicle mass (GVM) Mercedes Atego 1628 truck in central Queensland. This HMA Techniplan Hi-Rail Vehicle has a 750kg elevating work platform (EWP).  A section of the EWP extends to both sides of the track.  The Hi-Rail vehicle can be controlled from the EWP in both travel and work modes.  A joystick controller enables the Hi-Rail Scissor Lift operator to ‘creep’ travel the Hi-Rail vehicle very accurately while fully extended. The 16 T GVM Hi-Rail vehicle has a relatively small wheelbase which ensures that the truck is very easy to get on and off track, even at the narrowest crossings.

The HMA Techniplan GENII maintenance vehicle is a state of the art machine capable of high speed (60 kph) relocation on track, transporting three workers to the work site in air-conditioned, dry comfort.

The vehicle incorporates a Scissor Lift suitable for 6-metre high operation and 450 Kg WLL. The Scissor Lift Elevating Work Platform (EWP) has a telescopic side shift auxiliary platform, capable of reaching 3.8 metres from the track.

The vehicle incorporates state of the art hydraulic traction circuits, PLC electronic control with self-diagnostic capability.  Also elastomeric suspension and a number of sound attenuation strategies for the diesel-hydraulic system which enables work to be carried out at night in metropolitan areas.

For cross-country deployment, the machine is readily unloaded and loaded back on to a crane truck.
